Baroness Amos is asking women and families across England to share their experiences of maternity and neonatal care through a public Call for Evidence. Responses to the Call for Evidence will be used to inform the National Maternity and Neonatal Investigation’s findings and recommendations.

The Call for Evidence is open for 8 weeks from 20 January until 17 March 2026.

There are two Call for Evidence surveys available:

- One for women and people who have been pregnant to share their own experiences of maternity and neonatal services.
- One for other people to share their experiences supporting someone through pregnancy. This could include fathers, non-birthing partners, family members, friends, or other support people.

One of the most common questions I’m asked is whether people can exercise their core during pregnancy.

A strong core is so important to help support the back and pelvis during pregnancy and in childbirth (whether vaginally or a caesarean).

Having a strong core can help to:
- improve posture
- strengthen the inner core muscles that work super hard to support the spine and pelvis as your baby grows
- release any tension - especially in the back.

There are lots of different core exercises and moves you can do safely in pregnancy, here are a few faves I love to teach:

1️⃣ Diaphragmatic breathing with pelvic floor activation
2️⃣ Half plank adductor squeeze (Pilates ball optional)
3️⃣ Deep core strengthening with ball press
4️⃣ The cat cow for spinal mobility
5️⃣ Adductor rocks with upper/mid spine mobility

All of these and more in my pregnancy Pilates classes every Tuesday 💜
