Reposting this very important message from @safeintheseat that @midwife_alicia forwarded to us, see below ๐Ÿ‘‡

Posted @withregram โ€ข @safeintheseat โ˜€๏ธ Of course you want to protect your baby from the summer sun.
But covering their car seat with a โ€œbreathableโ€ cover might not be as safe as it seems.

๐ŸŒก๏ธ When we cover a car seat or stroller, we trap heat inside.
And babies can heat up quickly.
At around 104ยฐF, their body starts to struggle.
By 107ยฐF, the risk of heatstroke becomes very real.

The good news? There are simple, safe ways to keep your baby cool:
โœ… Keep them out of direct sunlight
โœ… Dress them in lightweight clothes
โœ… Use sunscreen when itโ€™s age-appropriate
โœ… Add a stroller fan (outside the car only!)
โœ… Take them out of their seat as soon as you can

๐Ÿ‘ถ Your babyโ€™s comfort and safety come first.

Comment SAFESUN and Iโ€™ll send you easy tips to help your little one stay cool and safe all summer long.

Weโ€™ve got this, together.

FYI in this (glorious!) hot weather:

Posted @withregram โ€ข @thebreastfeedingnetworkuk Todayโ€™s Saturday Share comes from @1stepsnutritiontrust

The warmer weather seems to be sticking with us for a while, so hereโ€™s some information on keeping your breastfed and formula-fed babies hydrated!

Breastfed babies under 6 months old donโ€™t need extra water. Your breastmilk water content changes with your babyโ€™s needs.

Formula-fed babies under 6 months may be given small sips of water between milk feeds. Tap water (even filtered) must be boiled and cooled first. Bottled water may be inappropriate due to high sodium levels.

From 6 months water can be given to breastfed and bottle-fed babies, and tap water no longer needs to be boiled.

The number of wet nappies is a good indication of how hydrated your baby is. Around 6 in 24 hours is good ๐Ÿ’œ

You can find more information here:

Also, please donโ€™t forget to keep yourselves safe and hydrated in the sunshine too! ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿซ—โ˜€๏ธ

[ID: Should I Give Water To My Baby? guidance and recommendations. Breastfed babies 0-6 months. No extra water is needed for exclusively breastfed babies until solids are introduced. During hot weather breastfeed often to quench your babyโ€™s thirst. Formula fed babies 0-6 months. May need amounts of extra water during hot weather. Tap water is not sterile. It needs to be boiled and cooled first. Bottles water may be inappropriate due to high sodium and sulphate levels. filtered water can be given to babies under 6 months, but still needs to be boiled and cooled. How much? There is no specific guidance on how much extra water to give babies 0-6 months when itโ€™s hot. If needed, give small sips in between milk feeds. Generally, a well hydrated baby produces about 6 wet nappies every 24 hours. What about babies 6-12 months?Water can be given from an open cup or beaker as mealtimes from 6 months, and tap water no longer needs to be boiled. young children aged 1-5 years do not need any drinks other than milk and water.

๐ŸŒ Celebrating Midwives, Everywhere ๐ŸŒ
Today, on International Day of the Midwife, we honour the incredible dedication of midwives around the world โ€” from rural clinics to bustling hospitals, their hands help bring life safely into the world every single day. ๐Ÿ‘ถโค๏ธ
Here in the UK and across the globe, midwives are essential to ensuring safe, respectful, and empowering care for mothers, babies, and families. Their knowledge, compassion, and tireless work are the backbone of maternal and newborn health.
At #All4Birth, we deeply value the vital role midwives play in supporting not just births, but the entire journey of parenthood โ€” from antenatal care to postnatal support.
๐Ÿ’™ Thank you, midwives, for all you do.

Such an important message to share during #infertilityawarenessweek

Posted @withregram โ€ข @preysmd I spent years believing health was about discipline. Eat clean. Exercise. Stay lean. But when I went through IVF, I realized how little of it was actually in my hands. My body wasnโ€™t something to micromanageโ€”it was something to support, to listen to, to work with instead of constantly trying to โ€œfix.โ€

So if youโ€™re in midlife, struggling with weight, hormones, or just feeling like you donโ€™t recognize yourself anymoreโ€”let this be your permission slip to stop blaming yourself. You are not failing. Your body is not betraying you. Itโ€™s shifting, evolving, adapting. And the best thing you can do? Support itโ€”not fight it.
